Placer Mentors for Youth & Families
Our Placer Youth Mentor Program “sandwiches” our CASA program by providing volunteer mentors for children who are at-risk of entering the juvenile justice or child welfare systems, former foster youth who are transitioning into adulthood without family support. The goal of Mentoring is to steer the young people toward positive outcomes or help them transition successfully into adulthood.
Our Placer Family Mentor Program serves families whose children are in the child welfare system or at risk of entering into the child welfare system. Volunteers undergo additional training to become a “Family Mentor” who assist parents in learning new parenting and life skills. This program is funded by First 5 Placer.
Whereas CASA’s are court appointed, Mentors enter into informal renewable six-month commitments.
